Where the Heart Shines On
Lyrics
I met a stranger on the road one summer's morn
as I was resting my bones
We shared some stories, broke some bread
told a joke or two
It stilled my troubled mind

He gave me such a smile
I felt my life retold
Suddenly I started to believe
that he could make me whole

Ch1
"Do come along", he said to me
then smiled towards the horizon
I'll take you there, down yonder road
Where the Heart shines on

"I was like you", he said to me
"I played with truth
and knew just how things should be.
My compass ran on gals and wine
and being young, I thought it all was for free."

Ch2
"So come along", he glanced at me
then smiled towards the horizon
"I'll take you there, down yonder road
Where the Heart shines on."

Middle 8
A growing calmness within
The weight of years lifting from my eyes
I stood to go and found my heart aflame
It was then I knew
truth is my guiding light.

Ch3
"Do come along", he glanced at me
then smiled towards the horizon
"I'll take you there, down yonder road
Where the Heart shines on ."

"I'll take you there, down yonder road
Where the Heart shines on."

Where the Heart shines on.

Short Song Description:
A wonderful gift from a stranger, met on the road.
Long Song Description:
Someone, a seeker, meets a stranger on a country road, one summer morning. This stranger has such an illumined personality that the seeker is changed forever.
Story Behind the Song:
No real story. I was actually testing out a synth patch at a slow tempo when the chorus melody came. Then I remembered that the Beatle's tune, "Please Please Me" was originally recorder as a slow, Roy Orbisonesque rhythym. When George Martin heard it, he advised the Beatle's to speed it up and the rest is history. So I sped my tune up and the verse and lyrics followed shortly thereafter.
